Cape to Cairo Solo Cycle Aims to Raise Funds for IADP
On 3 July 2010 Kevin Brown, who is consulting to IADP on their eBook system, began cycling from the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, the most south-western point of the African continent, heading north east to Cairo, Egypt. The 12,000km (7500 mile) solo cycle through ten countries across Africa is expected to take five and a half months.
Along his way, Kevin hopes to raise funds for and the profile of IADP. Kevin is keeping a blog of his travels. Contributions to the IADP can also be made through this website.
IADP Supports Development of Teacher Training Open Education Resources
IADP and the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa (OSISA) are funding the development of a Teacher Education Space on the website of SAIDE's OER Africa Initiative. The purpose of the Space is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of teacher education on the continent through an African led process for sharing not only material as open educational resources, but also expertise and experience in both initial and continuing professional development of teachers. To date the resources, which include audio and video clips, as well as the written guides and readings, that have been added to the website are Learners and Learning and Being a Teacher, both from SAIDE's Teacher Education Series.
